Venue, Ready, Set, Go!

Hello Folks!

So remember that time we looked at every state park in Georgia, and every pavilion in every state park was booked for every Saturday in October. Yeah that happened.  But then a little miracle called Durham, North Carolina happened.  Once we opened the door to Durham wedding venues, we were greeted with big hugs and happy smiles.  So it has been decided:  The wedding is to take place in Durham, North Carolina.

The wedding ceremony will take place in the Charlotte Brody Discovery Garden at Sarah P. Duke Gardens at 3pm Saturday, October 5th, 2013.

We feel very grateful to have this opportunity to have our celebration in the Brody Garden.  The Brody Garden is special to me, because, during my time in graduate school, I worked with Sarah P. Duke Gardens staff to get the Brody Garden SITES certified (a sustainable landscape certification program).   It is a beautiful space, a large part of which is an edible landscape.  I am excited to tell you more about its story at the wedding, but in the meantime you can just read up on the details here.  You can also learn more about Sarah P. Duke Gardens here.

Reception details coming soon.

The wedding and likely the reception will both be outside, so please dress accordingly.

There will be some time between wedding and reception if you would like to go back to your hotel and change.  However, for both venues heels may not be advisable for the ladies.

Hotel Arrangements

We have a block of 20 rooms reserved at the Marriott downtown under the "Parsons Robinson Wedding Block." The number for the Marriott in downtown Durham is (919) 768-6020. They gave us a discounted rate of $125 a night (for both Friday and Saturday night) for these rooms.  If you would like a room please call and reserve a room prior to September 4th.  There are also other hotel accommodations in the area that are less expensive.  We will post details about these other accommodations in the next couple of weeks.

Seeing the city after the reception

James and I are very excited to have all our loved ones in one place at one time.  So, after the reception (which will end around dinner time or a little thereafter) we will be going out on the town with family and friends.  The downtown Marriott is very close to many of the bars and restaurants we want to show you.  We will probably meet at the Marriott following the reception and go out on the town with whoever is wanting to see the city.  We have been telling all of you how great Durham is, now we want you to see it!

That is all I have for today folks.  I will be posting again soon with reception details and additional hotel accommodations in the area.

Thank you for all you do, and we look forward to seeing all of you soon!

Love,
Sarah and James
